School Based Apprenticeships

Aboriginal students are gaining valuable work skills and experience through paid employment whilst completing secondary schooling.

School based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs*) are providing students with the opportunity to attain a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification, as well as the Higher School Certificate (HSC).

Momentum Cloud, as an industry partner, is working with students from the far south coast, NSW TAFE, the NSW Department of Education and NSW State Training Services to deliver the SBATs.

As an added bonus, the Elsa Dixon Foundation is making available funding to these students to receive 100 hours of paid employment whilst remaining at school.

The students will develop ICT and web development skills by working specifically on the MGoals initiative.

The MGoals initiative is a free program that supports Aboriginal culture and education by providing local Aboriginal communities and schools with an online website building project and an online learning environment where students create their goals for living and learning.

*SBATs are supported and promoted by both NSW State and Commonwealth Governments.
